Anna English Messer: Anna developed her passion for nature and the outdoors as a young girl in her family’s peach orchard. She knew that playing in the dirt was her calling in life, so she received her Bachelor of Science in Horticulture from the University of Georgia. Anna further honed her craft as a manager of the Flower Department at Sea Island Company. She designed indoor and outdoor container gardens and flower beds for numerous Sea Island Properties and Sea Island Residents. Anna started English Gardens in 2008. Her love for her work and dedication to her craft are the driving force behind English Gardens.
Brett Walker: Brett grew up on her family farm in Rayle, Georgia just east of Athens. Her love for the farm and the outdoors inspired her to study Landscape Architecture at the University of Georgia. Brett graduated in May of 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts in Landscape Architecture and soon after moved to St. Simons Island. At English Gardens, her designs expand from planning your unforgettable wedding to installing seasonal color in your gardens. Her creative sense of style and design is illustrated through her compostions.
Deana Jean Emory: Deana Jean also grew up on a peach orchard in a small Georgia town. In 1986, Deana packed her bags and decided the island life was her style of living. She is passionate about any living thing, but plants are her speciality. Her green thumb is exceptional! Your plants are sure to flourish after Deana gets in your garden.
Magnolia Messer (aka Maggie): Maggie is the greeter at our Retail Shop. She will always welcome you with a smile as long as you pat her head. She awaits Brandy and Andy, our mail-carriers, for her daily treats. You will also find her out and about on planting days. She’s a great digger!
